Founded in 1974, YouthCare was one of the first programs to serve runaway and homeless youth on the West Coast. The goal was to help young people find safety today, and build a future for tomorrow. Over four decades, we’ve defined best practices and developed programs that are a national standard for excellence. Using a youth-centered approach, we ensure that young people experiencing homelessness ages 12-24 have the hope, skills, and confidence to gain long-term stability.

ABOUT THE DEVELOPMENT TEAM: YouthCare’s Development Team provides youth and staff at YouthCare with the support and items young people need to get off the streets and prepare for life. The team is responsible for fundraising, community engagement, external communications, public policy work, volunteer and in-kind donation management, and much more!

POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Director of Institutional Advancement, the Foundation & Corporate Program Manager works to grow philanthropic support from existing and new foundation and corporate funding sources to support current programming and to plan and sustain organizational growth under YouthCare’s new strategic plan and Theory of Change. Working with the Director of Institutional Advancement, the Foundation and Corporate Program Manager will identify, cultivate, solicit and steward foundations and corporations for general, program-specific, capital, sponsorship, and endowment support. Responsibilities include prospect research; writing of letters of inquiry, grant proposals, sponsorship requests, and stewardship reports; maintaining and compiling supporting documents; and donor record management.


  • Contribute to the development of and execute a strategic fundraising plan annually, focusing primarily on private and corporate foundation support.
  • Work with the Director of Institutional Advancement to develop and maintain a detailed calendar of application and reporting deadlines.  
  • Identify foundation and corporate prospects and conduct research to determine interest, giving potential, and alignment to YouthCare’s strategic goals and outcomes.
  • Partner with the Director of Institutional Advancement to develop strategies to engage, solicit, and steward these prospects.
  • Prepare and/or assure the preparation of high-quality grant proposals and reports for funders.
  • Take responsibility for coordination of a portfolio of relationships and supports the Director of Institutional Advancement, Development & Communications Officer, and CEO as the primary contact(s) of others.
  • Provide support to the Director of Institutional Advancement, Development & Communications Officer, and CEO for in-person meetings with current and potential funders.
  • Assist in Foundation events and site visits.
  • Work with the Director of Institutional Advancement and other members of the Development team to identify new corporate giving strategies.
  • Support the Development Manager and the Donor Relations and Events Manager on sponsorship applications for YouthCare’s annual event.
  • Partner with the Donor Relations and Events Manager to support stewardship of family foundation/major donor relationships
  • Work with the Development Manager and Donor Database Assistant to ensure that grants are recorded, acknowledged and recognized appropriately.
  • Maintain accuracy of donor tracking systems and database for foundation constituents, while maintaining confidentiality of donor information.
  • In collaboration with the Learning & Impact Department, coordinate the collection of organizational data for inclusion in proposals, reports, and other collateral.
  • Collect and maintain local, state, and national statistics and information relevant to service to youth.
  • Participate in the planning of grant and corporate support fundraising forecasts, predictions, and objectives.
  • Build collaborative relationships, conduct research, and gather information with program staff in order to develop grant proposals and reports.
  • Track programmatic development and match appropriate funding sources to those initiatives.
  • Prepare post-award documents and forward to relevant departments. Serve as a resource during award set up and project launch, and review active grant balances.
  • Work with Finance Department and Program Directors and Program Managers to develop grant budgets and ensure proper allocation of grant funding.
  • Manage or participate as project team member for special projects as needed.

  • 3+ years’ experience as a fundraising professional with a specific background in grant writing
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with good command of spelling, grammar, and punctuation
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, with a talent for building strong and productive relationships across constituencies
  • Extremely well-organized, detail-oriented, and able to thrive in a busy environment
  • Creative, self-driven, and proactive problem solver with comfort to perform a variety of duties
  • Proven word processing and overall computer expertise including MS Office, Power Point, Publisher, and an aptitude for learning new software programs
  • B.A. in English, Communications, Social Science or the Humanities
  • Experience and credentials must comply with program contract requirements including but not limited to DSHS background check and must be at least 21 years of age


  • Experience with Raiser’s Edge (or equivalent donor database)


  • Valid state identification or passport.
  • Current TB Test.
  • Successful completion of pre-service training as required by contracting agency. Training will include: New Employee Training, Cultural Proficiency training, CPR/First Aid and HIV/AIDS training, CSEC and Right Response training.

  • Ability to accurately maintain and produce files, records, logs and reports.
  • May be required to assume responsibilities or duties within the agency not specifically delineated in this job description for short periods of time or on an infrequent basis.

  • Ability to perform range of physical motions, exerting up to 50 pounds. Lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds; standing, walking, sitting for long periods of time, kneeling, squatting, and stooping; running for brief periods of time; and go up and down stairs.
